A bit of a late start today….oh well..it is the weekend!!
Todays words are…Enlightened and Family.
Got to think for a little while now!!
So this is what google says about the word enlightened…
When I read the first explanation I was half thinking I could use this image I had made before of my two little girls….awww look how beautiful they are!!!
…but then I thought that would be too easy!!
So I thought about it for another while and decided I might create an image with a family of Buddha’s with maybe a mad funky light effect background!??
Time to illustrate!!
Tunes…something I haven’t listened to in a while…..a bit of Madness!!!
Right…so I’m going to try something….I have printed a buddah and am going to try to make a stencil of it on black card with just pin prick holes, then I’m going to shine a light behind it and see if if I can capture a photograph of it!!?? Kinda like the light shining through him!!!
a holy buddah…..
This is a fancy lense I have no clue how to work…but I’m attempting to capture the light coming through…
…need more practice…..still not sure how this will go!!!
I was kicked out of college and I’m working from home again.
So….the light idea may just work!!
I have been busy trying to figure out which plugins and stuff I need to install to be able to open my raw files!! Such a pain…..but I’ll get there. I have a few practice images…I’ll post them as soon as I get them open!
There’s a possibility I could be taking photographs for the rest of the night!!! So far…
And so…its official…I really need to invest in some photography lessons!!
Hmmmmmm…..I think I like this one!!
Just some other pics…
So that’s it, the finish line is getting closer!!!
Todays image was interesting to do and again it allowed me to try something I probably never would have thought of! I reckoned the idea of having a family of Buddhas just seemed fitting along side the word enlightened because all that spiritual stuff is what their about.
At first I was thinking about maybe creating a mad light effect design for the background in Photoshop…but as I was illustrating my Buddhas I was trying to figure out how I would put it all together. I was contemplating printing the Buddha and making a stencil of him with very thin lines and then placing him back onto the background to photograph so that it would almost be like it was coming through him…then I thought it would probably work better if I just layered them in Photoshop because I could position the light effect where I needed it. And then I ended up making a stencil with pin pricks on black card and decided to shine an actual light through it!!!
I took about a million photos and only ended up with a few good kind of ones. I do like the images that are forward facing but they really loose the effect of the process…they could be mistaken for an illustration using a flare tool…and so I decided that the final image would be at a different angle.
To make this image I had to create three stencils…pin prick them all…make up a light source (a fancy big bulb and a big roll of white paper),..position the stencils on top making sure no extra light came through…lock myself in my bedroom with all the lights off and then i took loads of photos and hoped and prayed at least one would work!! It was a long day!!
I realise its kind of hard to make out exactly what it is…but that’s what makes it a bit more interesting. People will have to look at this image and actually have to think about it for a minute!!
Tools used: Illustrator, pins, photography and a big fancy light!!
And that’s it….its oh so late and I need sleep!!
